Arrival & check-out
How to get to the apartment, how you get in, and how to leave. Check-in is from 3 pm, check-out by 11 am, unless agreed otherwise with Charles in advance.
From the airports
Once you have picked up your luggage, just send me a quick message.
- Taxi. Paris taxis have a fixed fare from the airports to our side of the river. €56 from Charles de Gaulle and €45 from Orly, for a direct trip from the official taxi rank; booking supplements may apply to reserved taxis.
- Uber or Bolt. Sometimes a bit cheaper depending on traffic, compare once you land. If the difference is small, take a taxi. They are easier to find and can use the bus lanes, which makes the ride quicker. Once in Paris, for short trips, the metro, Vélib’ bikes or Uber and Bolt are better value than taxis.
- Public transport. From Charles de Gaulle, RER B to Gare du Nord, then metro line 5 (see below). From Orly, metro line 14 to Gare de Lyon, then see below.
From the train stations
- Gare du Nord (Eurostar) or Gare de l’Est. Metro line 5 direction Place d’Italie, straight to Oberkampf with no change (4 stops from Gare du Nord, 3 from Gare de l’Est), then a 5 min walk. The easiest option.
- Gare de Lyon. Metro line 1 direction La Défense, one stop to Bastille. Then line 8 direction Balard, 3 stops to Filles du Calvaire. Or, at Bastille, line 5 direction Bobigny, 3 stops to Oberkampf.
A taxi from a central train station costs around €12 to €18.
Finding the apartment
65 rue de Saintonge, 75003 Paris, in the Haut Marais.
- Filles du Calvaire, metro line 8, 3 min walk
- Oberkampf, metro lines 5 and 9, 5 min walk
- République is close too, but always crowded, so I usually avoid it
From the street to your door
The big blue door
At number 65, type the entry code 37B19 on the keypad. Once you have the keys, the green fob opens it too, hold it against the round black reader just below the keypad.

The keypad, with the fob reader just below The second door, with the intercom
Ring the intercom labeled Tardif. I open for you, or I come down to meet you. With the keys, hold the green fob against the round black reader at the top of the intercom panel and the door opens.

The fob reader, at the top of the intercom panel The elevator, on the right
A charming Parisian elevator, which means it is tiny. One person with one suitcase at a time. Press 4.
4th floor, first door on the left
The apartment is the first door on the left as you step out of the elevator. Welcome home!
Coming and going during your stay. The green fob on your key ring opens both doors, the big blue door and the second door. You no longer need the code or the intercom.
When you arrive
If I welcome you in person. Text me when you are at the big blue door, or ring the intercom at the second door, and I will come down to meet you. I load your luggage into the elevator, send the bags up to the 4th floor and take the stairs myself. If you feel energetic after your journey you are welcome to follow me up, otherwise wait downstairs and I send the elevator right back for you.
If I cannot be there. Your arrival message tells you everything you need. Send me a message once you are in, or if anything looks wrong.
Arriving late in the evening? No problem and no extra fee. If I can’t welcome you myself, you get in on your own, I send you every step before your arrival. Arriving very early? Tell me your time in advance so I can organise it.
Check-out
- Check-out is by 11 am, unless agreed otherwise with Charles in advance. You do not need to do anything special, just leave the keys on the table.
- The cleaning team usually arrives between 11:30 and noon.
- Leaving later in the day? Your luggage can stay at the apartment, it is no problem. Just tell me what time you will come back for it, so I can arrange for you to get in.
- If something broke during your stay, please tell me. You will not be charged, I just want everything to be perfect for the next guests.
- If there is anything I could improve, tell me, and feel free to be critical. It really helps me.
Need anything?
I’m here to help, before and during your stay. No question is too small.
